Tumult
This work was created in early 2015 for use by Marin Center for Independent Living (www.marincil.org) to promote their “Angels by the Bay” fundraising gala that is held every October. Every year, a different image of San Francisco Bay is used for the event.
Marin Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit based in San Rafael, CA. MCIL’s mission in Marin County is to assist persons with all types of disabilities to achieve their maximum level of sustainable independence as equal participants in society through information, support and grants. Special support is also available for those being treated for breast cancer.
Shannon is on the Auxiliary Board of this non-profit, seeing it as a way to contribute to her community and also to give back as her elderly mother receives support services in her home in another part of the country.
This work was donated in 2008 to an auction benefiting Casa de Rosas / Sunshine Mission, a shelter for homeless and abused women in the West Adams district of Los Angeles. The artwork was generously purchased by Jennifer Still, a benefactor of the organization as inspiration for starting a family of her own.
Shannon’s representations of the beauty of Northern California and the Eastern Sierra Nevada, never fail to inspire and take us back to those beautiful places.

Shannon’s expressive and uninhibited approach to painting has enabled her to create many vivid, exuberant works which are as much a representation of pure emotion as the subjects she portrays.

Twelve years ago, Shannon’s work came to my attention during an art workshop we were taking together. She has a magical way of capturing her subject matter and bringing it to life on the canvas. My first purchase was two kids hanging on a rope. I know this was one of her favorites . . . as it was a long time before she would part with it. Before her relocation to the Bay area, I acquired her painting of a serene/meditative woman’s face. When I look at it, it reminds me to take a deep breath and believe that everything will work out. Both paintings hang prominently in my home

There is always a mystery hiding within Shannon Meadows work. I am attracted to her vibrant colors, textures and movement that create mood and atmosphere. We have one of her paintings in our home and she was one of our featured artists at our Post Production studio in Santa Monica California. Her work always brings conversation! Lastly, being a creative person myself, I am inspired by Shannon’s work as it invokes my own creative muse.

Museful
In January, the MCIL Auxiliary Board commissioned Shannon to compose a seascape to include the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to use as the centerpiece for our annual gala, Angels By the Bay. Shannon’s work is so exquisitely composed with beautiful content, color, and movement. We couldn’t be more delighted to showcase this masterpiece. Thank you Shannon.
