Mark Drive Studios, space 7/8
I’m so pleased to announce my new space at Mark Drive Studios, San Rafael. This space has been a creative encouragement and I am enjoying being surrounded by other artists.
The thread of creative expression has been woven through my life. Initially, it was in areas of university study such as creative writing, short stories, and improvisational modern dance. Pragmatism took over and I pursued a career in technology in graphics tools such as 3D animation and web design. My later career evolved into the EdTech space with a focus on applying technology in higher education as it continues to experience digital transformation to foster social mobility. Throughout, my creativity has been applied to solving go-to-market and strategic challenges in start-up businesses.
Over 20 years ago, oil painting became by obsession and avocation. The rich textures, colors and tactile aspect of oils are my natural medium. The ability to build on a painting’s history, its layers of paint, to create a work that is unplanned and evolutionary is always fascinating, leading into my creation of the next piece. My initial focus was on painting people, which then evolved into abstract landscapes. With the recent turmoil of pandemic, politics and war, I feel drawn to juxtapose elements of darkness and confusion with beauty to present this reality and am on that evolutionary creative journey.
